Hollow Embrace is a lament on spiritual emptiness, signified with Stephen Wilcox's soaring crescendo on his electric guitar that escapes like a flaming spirit. Starry Eyes declares commitment in relationships. All You is about devotion, with Wilcox adding soothing bass-lines that hug our vulnerable emotions. Doin' The Best, with a contemporary Country hook, is about trying hard, not to fall in love.
Led by intimate acoustic guitar and Pinxits vocals, the four songs weave patterns of tension and release, sonic layering and space.
The mood recalls the introspective warmth of Elliott Smith or Nick Drake, favouring emotional honesty and melodic restraint over brittle polish, and letting quiet moments do the heavy lifting.
The EP was recorded and mixed by Vaughn Pinxit, at Dirt Road Studios, a rural Queensland home-studio on Gubbi Gubbi Country, Australia. Collaborators worked remotely, sending files online.
