Artist Statement

My Own Place is a series of sculptural works that uses symbolic coiled forms as a visual language to explore the complexities of life, memory, and connection. Each sculpture emerges through an intuitive process of making, where material and method are as important as the final form. Inspired by the immediate landscape, the work incorporates found and discarded objects that have been reclaimed, transformed, and given renewed purpose.

Through acts of collecting, reworking, and assembling, everyday materials are elevated beyond their original function, carrying traces of their past while suggesting new narratives. The coiled structures act as metaphors for growth, resilience, continuity, and the interconnected nature of personal and collective experience. By engaging with sustainable practices and the possibilities of reuse, My Own Place invites viewers to consider the value embedded within overlooked materials and the stories they hold, revealing beauty, meaning, and belonging in unexpected places.
